Ask useful questions
Start with what we do not yet understand, rather than assuming we already know the answer.
We explore how businesses operate, the challenges they face, and the decisions that shape their work. Through direct conversations and focused research, we uncover perspectives worth understanding.
Business decisions are often made with incomplete information. InsightAnvil is an independent research studio focused on understanding the people, practices, and practical realities behind organizations. We value specific questions, thoughtful conversations, and evidence over assumptions.
Start with what we do not yet understand, rather than assuming we already know the answer.
Explore the circumstances, constraints, and trade-offs behind everyday business choices.
Organize what we learn into clear themes, open questions, and directions for further investigation.
Our research interests span industries. The questions evolve as we learn more, so we do not limit ourselves to one sector, technology, or business model.
How work moves through teams, where friction appears, and how people manage exceptions.
How organizations choose, use, and evaluate the tools that support their work.
How businesses understand customer expectations, feedback, and service challenges.
How priorities shift, needs emerge, and organizations evaluate opportunities for change.
We occasionally contact business owners and professionals to learn how different industries operate, what challenges recur, and how needs are changing. Each invitation focuses on a specific question relevant to the recipient's experience. Participation is optional, and our exploratory research may inform future products, services, or commercial opportunities.
We contact people because their professional perspective may help us understand a particular topic. We aim to be clear about the subject and why we are asking.
Most conversations begin with one simple question by email. You can respond directly, in your own words. We may ask a follow-up, but you do not need to book a meeting or participate further.
We occasionally reach out to people with relevant professional experience to ask about a specific business topic. If you have received an invitation, you can reply directly by email. You do not need to prepare a presentation or agree to a sales call.
Tell us about your perspective on a focused topic, whether through a brief email exchange or an optional conversation. We may ask follow-up questions to better understand your experience.
Have a market, customer, or operational question you would like to investigate? We are open to discussing selected, clearly scoped research projects and whether we are a suitable fit.
The shape of a project depends on the question. A focused research process typically moves through four stages.
Clarify what needs to be understood and why it matters.
Use relevant conversations, desk research, or qualitative feedback.
Separate observations, recurring themes, and unanswered questions.
Present findings and limitations in a clear, usable form when a project calls for it.
We aim to explain why we are reaching out, respect a person's choice not to participate, and avoid requesting confidential client or company information. We do not present exploratory conversations as representative survey findings. Identifiable quotations or disclosures should only be used with permission.
If you reply to a research invitation, we use the information you voluntarily share to understand the topic, identify themes, and decide what to explore next. This work may inform future commercial ideas. We do not ask for confidential company or customer information, and we do not publish identifiable quotations without permission.
Email hello@insightanvil.com to ask how your response is being used, request that we stop contacting you, or ask us to delete information you have shared. We will review and respond to such requests. Please avoid including personal or sensitive details in your initial reply.
Whether you would like to participate in a research conversation or discuss a potential research project, tell us a little about what is on your mind.
